When asked by Laff In The Dark to describe the experience of working on such an exceptional attraction, Ric Hostetter, Sally's scenic supervisor and a life-long surfer, had this to say: "Professionalism is the first thing that comes to mind about the whole experience. The Santa Cruz people did an incredible job...starting from scratch. The building was torn down to the ground and they built a whole new, multi-story facility. I've been on a lot of installations and this whole project was so professionally executed. It's a fabulous ride with great design. And (he chuckles) the waves were incredible."

Harold Esposito, mechanical supervisor, told us: "Coming from Florida we expected nice weather....but it wasn't nice, sunny and warm, it was cold, wet and frigid when we arrived. But as bad as the weather was, the people in the park made up for it: they were warm, friendly and accomodating. They gave us all the help we needed...it was like working with family. The ride has great flow and a lot of character. It fits well with the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk theming and I think it will appeal to all ages. This new ride is 360 degrees from the old one and has lots of 'startles' and great animatronics."
