The Flying Witch façade has the stamp of the famous airbrush
artist known as The Wizard. In the late 1990s he enhanced
it with many vibrant, detailed illustrations. Over the years,
Nick purchased other spooky characters to keep the witch company,
including Freddie Kruger and the Grim Reaper.
Unlike most other multi-story dark
rides, Flying Witch’s original design offered no cutout windows
or façade decks for the cars to emerge briefly into the daylight.
Peter Tranahas rectified this dilemma by removing several
wooden panels from the top of the façade, hence allowing riders
brief reprieves from the darkness. The panels were eventually
reinstalled and to this day, the ride is completely enclosed.
